Who are we? Where do we come from? And where are we going? These questions are closely related to our existence, yet very few can provide accurate answers. Over a period of 14 months, spanning 24 countries, director Ron Fricke uses his lens to showcase the most magnificent and vibrant scenes that nature has to offer—ranging from ancient times to the present, from apes to humans, from desolate deserts to breathtaking religious ceremonies, from the overwhelming emotions brought by vast landscapes to the happiness found in a baby's innocent smile. We often fail to realize that all this beauty is happening around us all the time. The entire film is without dialogue, and the title Baraka means blessing in ancient Islamic terms, which is also the director's intention in creating this film: to bless all that exists alongside us on this blue planet.
