With Aamir Khan in the mix, who can compete? Recently released, the Indian film "Delhi Belly" is produced by Aamir Khan's production company. Although he did not participate in the performance, his influence behind the scenes has garnered significant attention for this film since its inception, creating an air of anticipation like that of a major cinematic event. Now that the film has officially premiered, how has it performed? I can only say this: If you're used to Hollywood or Hong Kong comedies, you may not feel much. The film can only be considered average in terms of execution. However, from the perspective of Bollywood filmmaking, it is indeed quite unconventional, with a hint of Quentin Tarantino's style, delivering humor that is a bit absurd—a very modern approach appealing to young audiences. The story can be divided into two parallel lines: one follows the male lead, Imran Khan, and his two male roommates. He is a journalist being pressured by his parents and girlfriend into marriage, while seemingly involved with a female journalist. The other line involves a gangster boss waiting to collect smuggled goods, only to receive a bag of "shit"! How do these two unrelated stories intertwine? The film provides a solid explanation that makes sense, which you'll understand once you watch it. In terms of screenplay, "Delhi Belly" is indeed very complete; regarding filming techniques, it flows smoothly without dragging, making it one of the more outstanding Indian films of the year. However, due to the high expectations sparked by Aamir Khan, many viewers may feel let down after watching it. The lesson from this situation is — if your head isn't that big, don't wear such a large hat. However, there is no way to launch a product without promotion, which might even exaggerate the expectations; audiences should prepare mentally. "Delhi Belly" can be seen as one of the wave of new generation films initiated by directors in Indian cinema. While it may not be groundbreaking for seasoned viewers, it is a tangible step towards change in Bollywood, exhibiting a higher standard than traditional Bollywood films, and deserves support.
