The story starts with a boy from Mumbai named Ani (played by Mithun Chakraborty), who performs on the streets with artist Raj (played by Rajesh Khanna) using a guitar and drums. Ani becomes friends with a wealthy girl named Rita, which is not accepted by traditional views, leading to Ani's family being forced to leave their hometown. Over time, Sami (played by Karan Razdan) becomes the most famous dance star in India, but his misconduct makes his manager David very unhappy, prompting him to search for a replacement. Ani becomes a candidate for Brown after performing John Travolta's character in "Saturday Night Fever." However, Ani's outstanding performance stirs jealousy in Sami, who sends his sister Rita to sabotage Ani's act, but Rita is moved by Ani's exceptional talent.
