Ando Manno (played by Koichi Satō), who has a painful past, receives a call early in the morning from his colleague Miyashita (played by Tsuji Tatsuya), informing him of the accidental death of his medical school friend Takayama Ryuji (played by Hiroyuki Sanada). Ando performs an autopsy on Takayama's body, ruling out suicide and homicide, discovering that his friend died of a heart attack. Under the police’s arrangement, he meets Takayama's lover Takano Mai (played by Miki Nakatani), but hears that his friend died because of a videotape. Naturally, Ando does not believe this vague hypothesis, but a few days later, Takayama's ex-wife Asakawa Reiko (played by Nanako Matsushima) and her young son also die in a car accident, and the damaged car's broken video recorder raises Ando's suspicions. Before long, Asakawa's boss Yoshino (played by Yutaka Matsushige) visits Ando and tells him the entire truth about Sadako and the cursed videotape. From this point on, Ando's fate changes... This film is adapted from the original work by Koji Suzuki.
