Iron Man Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) refuses to surrender his latest technology during a congressional hearing. Meanwhile, he discovers that the micro arc reactor in his chest is rapidly causing palladium poisoning in his blood. Frustrated, Tony hands over the presidency of Stark Industries to his assistant Pepper Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow), who is fully responsible for the ongoing Stark Expo in New York. Pepper brings in legal assistant Natasha (played by Scarlett Johansson) to take care of Tony. Tony's high-profile appearance in front of the media draws the attention of Ivan (played by Mickey Rourke), the son of his father's old colleague, who becomes disgruntled. In pursuit of revenge, he follows in his father's footsteps and develops a suit that can rival the Iron Man armor.
