During the reign of Tokugawa shogunate's third shogun, Iemitsu, the country enjoyed favorable weather and peace. Legends of three divine artifacts circulated in the world, namely the Sword of the Emperor, the God of War's Stick, and Judas's Cross, forged from cosmic metals, granting the holders the power to conquer the world. The samurai Man'yō Kuro (played by Hiroshi Abe) is the holder of the Sword of the Emperor. Following his father's dying wish, he searches for these artifacts to return them to their "original places." Along the way, he encounters the descendant of the Toyotomi family, Komai (played by Kyoko Hasegawa), and her guardian, the ninja Sanada Sasuke (played by Kankuro Nakamura). They face numerous dangers and must constantly evade the shogunate's pursuit. On the other hand, aliens Lan (played by Kyoko Hasegawa) and Botan (played by Meisa Kuroki) also covet the artifacts in the hands of Man'yō Kuro and his companions. With enemies continuously plotting against him, Man'yō Kuro can only fight his way out using the Sword of the Emperor... This film is adapted from the long novel by Baku Yumemakura.
