John, a senior executive at a Hong Kong multinational investment bank, receives a blackmail email threatening that if he doesn't pay approximately HKD 190,000 within three days, confidential financing analysis related to a tech industry leader will be made public. Faced with this threat, and in order to protect the company's reputation and the interests of clients, John decides to secretly seek help. He reaches out to his former college dormitory mate, Detective Tang, and requests his assistance in the investigation. One of the heads of the confidential financing analysis, Mu Ye, suddenly goes missing and becomes the prime suspect. During the investigation, it is discovered that the confidential document was stolen from the intranet, and Xiao Ru had previously sought help from the IT department's A Zhi, leading the entire team to be relocated by John to a VIP suite for round-the-clock surveillance by Tang and his subordinates to ensure the ransom transaction can proceed smoothly. However, the kidnappers' behavior is quite strange, with a relatively small ransom amount and more chaotic instructions. As the investigation deepens, Tang uncovers complex family backgrounds behind A Zhi and the frequent appearances of a mysterious figure. Meanwhile, the senior executives of the tech company are forced to resign due to delays in the development of the new generation network platform, and their whereabouts become enigmatic—could there be a connection? With the development delays possibly leading to financing failures and even a global market crash, the kidnappers ultimately demand that John pay the ransom using online auctions. Can Tang understand the mindset of this new generation online? Will he be able to discreetly solve the case without having complete knowledge? And does A Zhi know who the true culprit is? Why is the true culprit trying to frame him? All these mysteries will gradually unfold during the investigation.
