The story is inspired by one of Taiwan's notorious haunted buildings, located in the center of Taipei. This building has witnessed over 20 murder cases in a span of more than 30 years, which has kept property prices much lower than other developments nearby. The most famous incident is a fire in the 1980s that trapped over 300 people, ultimately claiming 19 lives. Additionally, the urban legend of the "Burned Rice Dumpling Incident" occurred here; a woman committed suicide by jumping from the building due to relationship problems, accidentally crushing a street vendor selling burned rice dumplings below her, further enhancing the terrifying reputation of this building and making it one of the most infamous haunted houses in Taiwan.
