Jason is the son of King Aeson, whose brother Pelias usurped the throne. Jason was raised by the centaur Chiron. After growing up, Jason returned to the kingdom to reclaim his throne from his uncle. His uncle, however, required him to complete a task—retrieve the Golden Fleece. If Jason could achieve this, his uncle would relinquish the throne. She steals the Golden Fleece and gives it to Jason. Betraying her father and killing her brother, she is willing to sacrifice everything to escape with Jason and live together in a distant land.
