The actresses Liz, Marianna, and Gunilla, while rehearsing the ancient Greek play "Lysistrata," involuntarily connect the fates of their characters to their personal lives. This association leads them to reflect on their relationships with their husbands and their views on men. Liz's husband is a rude stockbroker who insists that she leave the stage and stay at home. This reflects Liz's conflict between her career and family, as well as the distress between her expectations of her husband and her personal aspirations. Marianna lives with an older doctor and has a child. The doctor reluctantly divorces his wife to live with her. This scenario illustrates her complex emotional situation and the balancing act between family and career. Gunilla's husband is depressed all day, while she juggles work and caring for five children. Her life appears filled with responsibilities and challenges, which may influence her views on marriage and men. During the tour, the three actresses begin discussing their relationships with their husbands and their impressions and views on men.
