The film is a remake of the 1999 Danish movie of the same name, "The First Love Begins with a Hiccup." High school freshman Vido (Devon Werkheiser) has a crush on sophomore Anya (Scout Taylor-Compton). However, Anya is already dating Peter, who drives a Porsche. Vido's friends Toby and Nicolai do not support him in pursuing Anya. One day, Vido gathers the courage to invite Anya to the class dance, and Anya's best friend Gidi encourages everyone to go along. At the dance, Vido hiccups repeatedly, and Anya jokingly says that if he hiccups again, she will kiss him forcefully; as a result, Vido actually stops hiccuping. Vido accidentally hears that Peter bribed Gidi to set up a situation where Anya would lose her virginity, so he decides to intervene.
