A North Korean woman seeks medical help and, under involuntary circumstances, ends up in South Korea. She constantly thinks of her family in Pyongyang, but her hopes of returning home are dashed through repeated protests, lawsuits, and appeals to the embassy. Years go by, and she even witnesses the historic moment of the North and South Korean leaders shaking hands. She is not what is conventionally termed a "defector," but the political situation between the two Koreas prevents her from going home.
