Maggie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is a young single mother raising her teenage daughter Summer (Rosie Day) on her own. In an effort to bond with her daughter, Maggie decides to take her to a village in Tuscany for a vacation. What Maggie doesn't expect is to encounter her former lover Luca (Raoul Bova), who is still single, which sends Maggie’s mind wandering. Summer, missing her boyfriend back in New York, decides to sneak away to New York without her mother's knowledge. Coincidentally, Luca's elderly mother Carmen (Claudia Cardinale) also has her own secret plan, and the two women quickly team up, stealing Luca's car to embark on their journey. Once they learn of this, Maggie and Luca must chase after them.
