On July 4th one year, during the weekend, John McClane (Bruce Willis) is on vacation when he receives a new assignment: to arrest hacker Matt Farrell (Justin Long) and deliver him to the FBI for questioning. The situation, however, is not as simple as it seems: extreme terrorists, after careful planning, intend to use hacking techniques to paralyze the entire computer systems of the United States on Independence Day, fulfilling their conspiracy to control the world. Moreover, the mastermind Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant), in order to stop McClane from interfering, sets up a series of traps, including kidnapping his daughter Lucy. The old hero encounters new problems, and with Matt Farrell's help, McClane continues to fight fiercely…
