In the bright mountains and clear waters of the Jeongwon region in Gangwon-do, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, there is an etiquette school. Here, a little girl named Song-er (played by Kim Ji-hee) is not only clever and smart but also adorable, winning the hearts of the villagers. However, at this moment, 13-year-old Song-er faces the biggest crisis of her life, as the socially abandoned problem child, Do-yul (played by Ahn Nae-sang), is sent to this peaceful village for education, with intentions to return him to prison. Behind the Scenes The family drama "The Vine" opens with a scene of a father and daughter reuniting after 12 years of separation. It's easy to associate a film about father-daughter relationships with terms like "touching" and "tear-jerking"; in reality, this is a very conventional theme. This year, works focusing on familial themes seem less favored by the public. For instance, Kim Seung-woo and Kim Sae-ron’s "I Am Dad" did not receive the anticipated response, with average box office results. Comparing this film "The Vine," the cast feels somewhat lacking; Ahn Nae-sang, who plays the father, has excelled in various works such as the dramas "Suspicious Three Brothers," "The Wife's Club," "My Princess," and "Sungkyunkwan Scandal," making him a familiar supporting actor, but this is his first leading role. His co-star, child actress Kim Ji-hee, also noticeably lacks the popularity of Kim Sae-ron. It is really difficult to predict whether the film will be quietly buried or become a dark horse.
