On the eve of the Yugoslav War in 1992, Serbian engineer Luka (played by Slavko Stimac) sets up camp in the mountains of Bosnia to build a tourist route, bringing along his opera-obsessed wife Jadranka (Vesna Trivalic) and son Miro (Vuk Kostic), who dreams of becoming a football player. Luka ignores his wife's complaints and the rumors of war, fully dedicating himself to the design of the route. Soon, war breaks out; Miro is drafted, and Jadranka, unable to bear country life, elopes with her lover. Disheartened, Luka waits for the return of his wife and son amidst the booming artillery. By chance, he saves a Muslim woman, Sabaha (Natasa Solak), from a soldier. Originally intending to use her as a bargaining chip for his captured son, Luka gradually develops feelings for Sabaha...
