The Danish prince Hamlet (played by Laurence Olivier) experiences the mysterious death of his father in the garden. His uncle Claudius ascends to the throne and marries the former queen, Hamlet's mother. The sudden death of his father and his mother's remarriage leave Hamlet in deep sorrow. One day, Hamlet's friend Horatio informs him that a sorrowful ghost appears on the castle ramparts every midnight.
