This animated film is adapted from a story passed down among fishermen between the Opium War and the Boxer Movement. The imperialists occupied China's ports, forbidding fishermen from going out to sea to fish, yet fishermen still had to pay fishing taxes. An old fisherman, pressed by his livelihood, took a risk on a stormy night and crossed the blockade to fish. However, after working hard all night, he only caught a white jade fish basin painted with a fisher boy. What he didn't expect was that the basin was actually a treasure; while he slept soundly that night, the fisher boy jumped out of the basin and began fishing, "catching" many large and bright pearls for him. The next day, the old fisherman went to the market to sell the pearls and shared this miraculous story with everyone. Upon hearing it, a foreign missionary secretly came to see the treasure and plotted to seize it.
