In early summer, the cicadas buzz in clusters. Beside the meandering stream, willow branches sway gently in the wind. At the end of the path, a water buffalo strolls into the center of the painting. On its back, a carefree shepherd boy in shorts plays a bamboo flute, with the music drifting to every corner of the countryside, creating a beautiful scene of natural leisure. The water buffalo submerges in the water, enjoying the rare coolness. The shepherd leans against a tree branch, one leg swinging freely; he first competes with the birds in melody, then falls deeply into a dream. In his dream, he vaguely hears the call of the buffalo, that mischievous creature bouncing and playing, full of joy, making its way towards the end of the mountain, completely ignoring the shepherd's calls. Looking out, the layers of hills and mist are heavy; where is the young buffalo… This film won the Golden Prize at the 3rd Odense International Children's Film Festival in Denmark in 1979.
