Stone (played by Michael J. Fox) experiences a series of events and relationships during his community service in Grady Town. Although he initially views this service as a punishment and is eager to leave for Hollywood, he gradually discovers the town's simplicity and kindness. The townspeople warmly welcome him, including Mayor Nicholson (played by David Ogden Stiers), who offers Stone their warm support. Stone's car accident prevents him from leaving, forcing him to continue fulfilling his duties as a doctor, seeing countless patients.
