On June 28, 1914, at 9:00 AM, Archduke Ferdinand of the Austro-Hungarian Empire participated in a military exercise. After the exercise ended, a member of a secret Serbian organization, Princip, fired at Ferdinand and his wife, resulting in their deaths, and Princip was arrested. This incident is known as the Sarajevo Incident and is considered the spark that ignited World War I.
