Melvin is a successful British author from a somewhat quirky but typical British Caribbean family, well-off and surrounded by siblings. A few years ago, he experienced an embarrassing incident during Boxing Day with his family, which led him to move to the United States to escape them. This year, in order to promote his new book and take the opportunity to introduce his American fiancée Lisa, a charming career woman, to his family, Melvin returns home to London for the holidays to unwrap gifts with them. However, celebrating Christmas proves to be more challenging than he anticipated, as he finds himself caught in a family farce revolving around his ex-girlfriend Georgia, who is now an international pop superstar and seems to still have feelings for him.
