Martial arts superstar Wang Yu breaks away from his usual heroic image, playing a cynical young man in a modern film for the first time. Yang Guoliang (Wang Yu) is the son of Inspector (Tian Feng). Guoliang is troubled by his father's obsession with work and his mother's passing, leading to a growing emotional distance. Guoliang meets the dancer Meilin (Xing Hui), and both having lost their mothers, quickly move in together. Guoliang runs out of living expenses and gambles at a club, getting tricked by Chen Biao (Gu Feng) into losing a huge amount of money, and ends up raping Meilin. Furious, Guoliang kills Chen Biao and is subsequently pursued by the police; later, Inspector Yang, heartbroken, shoots his son, leading to a tragic ending.
