A lonely young man sets up an insectarium in a residential building, viewing various insects and reptiles as pets, particularly fond of scorpions and centipedes. His new pet is an invasive spider, which he temporarily provides a cozy nest, but the spider, with a strong survival instinct, seeks to escape the confines and keeps breeding. The offspring mutate into deadly giant spiders, filling the building with webs, plunging residents into a state of panic. For public safety reasons, police seal off all exits from the scene, making escape exceedingly difficult. Vanicek's feature debut confronts a pervasive lethal threat, touching on social class discrimination, evoking fears of lockdown, and expertly utilizing special effects and spatial settings to create a spine-chilling and blood-pressure-raising spider massacre crisis.
