The Scapelli Plumbing Company accidentally drills into the pipes connecting two worlds, giving brothers Mario (Bob Hoskins) and Luigi (John Leguizamo) the chance to enter another world controlled by Koopa (Dennis Hopper). Koopa uses his machines to freely alter the evolution or de-evolution of living beings, and after Daisy (Samantha Mathis) is captured, she becomes the key to uniting the two worlds. Fragments of a meteor become the focus of conflict. The brothers showcase their skills as plumbers, using their abilities to help Daisy so she can use the meteor fragments to restore her father and stabilize the chaotic situation. Mario and Luigi help Daisy achieve her goals while also contributing to peace between the two worlds.
