Married couple Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sam Taylor-Johnson are set to collaborate again, adapting the "notorious" bestseller A Million Little Pieces into a film, with the husband starring and the wife directing. They previously worked together on the film Nowhere Boy, which sparked their romance. The project has a dramatic backstory: the original book by James Frey was a huge seller and became a target for major film studios after its release in 2003, with Warner Bros acquiring the adaptation rights that same year, with Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, along with Brad Grey, producing the film. However, before the film could be completed, Frey faced a scandal in 2006 when it was revealed that the book, categorized as a "memoir," contained numerous falsehoods as he embellished his experiences. Frey faced backlash as a "great liar," and Oprah Winfrey, whose book club chose the book, also claimed to have been deceived. The film project became a hot potato, facing many twists and turns. Nonetheless, the story itself is compelling, depicting the main character waking up on a flight to Chicago and subsequently beginning his rehabilitation. The book's portrayal and analysis of individuals struggling with drug addiction, alcoholism, crime, and despair is shocking.
