Detailed introduction

The film depicts the story of urban dwellers with various emotional traumas and struggles joining a sugar cane cutting team to work in the countryside for farmers, healing their psychological ailments. The lush green tones, accompanied by piano pieces, cello music, rock, and harp melodies, evoke emotions as if washing away the dust of the city and the fatigue of the spirit, bringing a sense of freshness and ease. The film actually cut 70,000 sugar canes for filming, and seven young actors spent about 40 days living together in places such as Miyako Island in Okinawa. In terms of content, it captures the details of ordinary life, such as the sugar cane cutting team daily repeating their trips among the fields, trucks, and sugar cane areas like a diary, yet every day brings new growth. Psychologically, it seeks the ordinary, exemplified by a memory from Tachibana in "The Necessity of Deep Breathing": "Dad told me to take a deep breath before jumping into the water. I asked if deep breathing could make me faster in the competition. Dad said it wouldn’t speed me up, but it would make me feel good." Tachibana took a deep breath as her father advised, but ended up jumping late and finishing last, yet felt very relaxed and not as distressed as before, leading her to say to herself, "Last place is just fine." In the fierce competition of modern society, the director advocates for self-discovery of psychological balance. Karina recommended it, saying: "I believe everyone who watches this movie will have different feelings, and I hope everyone can feel different thoughts." Narumi said: "It’s really annoying when attacked by mosquitoes, but I still really like Okinawa." Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the theme song "The Necessity of Deep Breathing" performed by MY LITTLE LOVER has received great acclaim.
