11 years ago, in Dublin during the 1970s, Neil McCormick (played by Ben Barnes) was a schoolboy with a grand rock dream, firmly believing that one day he would achieve fame. The lead singer of the school band Hype, Paul, invited Neil's younger brother Ivan (played by Robert Sheehan) to join as the guitarist. However, competitive Neil believed that he and his brother could make the band even better, so he rejected Paul's offer for Ivan and formed a band of their own.
