Michael (played by Michael Fuith) is an extremely reclusive man who lives alone. He prefers not to interact with his colleagues at work, refuses visits from neighbors at home, and has distanced himself from his mother and younger brother. The reason is that he doesn't want anyone to discover the secret in his home—he is holding a young boy, Wolfgang (played by David Rauchenberger), captive in the basement. This ten-year-old boy was kidnapped by him, and Michael meets his basic needs, allows him some entertainment time to watch TV, and permits him to write letters to his biological parents every day. Michael forever deceives him into believing that the letters have been sent, but his parents simply ignore him. On the surface, Michael appears to be a strict father figure to Wolfgang, but the truth gradually unfolds: he also needs the boy to satisfy his sexual desires. Life goes on calmly day by day, but Michael seems to grow hungrier for more, planning to capture another child but failing. Wolfgang feels lonely and eventually discovers that the letters were never mailed. In his disappointment, he devises an escape plan, only to find himself in an even greater predicament...
