In 1980, the Gwangju Uprising broke out. Innocent citizens were massacred by the military government as "red elements," and many families experienced the most painful separations. The mastermind behind it all, Chun Doo-hwan, ascended to the presidency. Years later, after stepping down peacefully, he received a special pardon despite facing accusations of military dictatorship and economic crimes. Meanwhile, the bereaved families of the Gwangju Uprising could no longer stand by in the face of the greatest injustice in the world. One day in 2006, national shooting team athlete Shim Mi-jin (played by Han Hye-jin), a former gangster who served in the military, Kwon Jung-hyuk, a young police officer, were gathered together. Their relatives all perished in the massacre 26 years ago, and former military officer Kim Joo-sik, who participated in the martial law, harbored immense guilt and hatred over the years. Now a wealthy businessman, he decides to join the bereaved families to assassinate Chun Doo-hwan, who continues to live a life of luxury without facing justice... This film is adapted from a Korean webtoon of the same name based on the Gwangju Uprising.
