Goofy and Max, the father-son duo from "Goof Troop," team up in this film. Max is now a full-fledged teenager who wants to take his school crush to the prom, but his dad insists on dragging him along to go fishing, leading to a clash of generational conflicts that tests their relationship. Initially released as a "movie version cartoon," it surprisingly grossed over 35 million dollars, with a production cost comparable to a television cartoon, making its profitability quite unexpected. The film's theme is actually quite thought-provoking, exploring some generational gap issues between parents and children, and it's not just a simple comedy. Despite using exaggerated cartoonish methods, it presents a nuanced side of parental love. Although "movie version cartoons" could not achieve the same level of refinement as "classic animation" due to budget constraints, the storytelling is well arranged, and the songs are quite enjoyable! It's no wonder that the producers of this film were promoted from the television animation department to the film production department at Disney after this success! Their first animated feature was "Tarzan" in 1999!
