On the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao, 11-year-old girl Kanza searches for her own path to adulthood between her atheistic father and devout grandfather. This is a film that has been brewing in director Eishi Janga's mind for ten years: his mother is Dutch white, and his father is Curaçao black, reflecting the roles of the father and grandfather in the film, while the protagonist is drawn entirely from his memories of his sister. Janga selected the inexperienced girl Tiara from dozens of female students, and her intense performance became a highlight, with the wilderness of Curaçao and the Caribbean waves adding a touch of magical realism to the film. The film won the Best Film award at the 2020 Netherlands Film Festival.
