The revolutionary army's Captain Wang and Zhang Qiyun escort a donation of fifty thousand yuan across the Gobi Desert, but fall into an ambush by the local tyrant Dong Shiying. A bloody battle ensues, resulting in Captain Wang's sacrifice, and Zhang Qiyun is severely injured and rescued by the wanderer Black Bactrian, who takes him to the home of the local girl Tu Mei. Ningxia regional army staff officer Zhou Haiping and Captain Peng, leading a convoy, encounter a sandstorm in the Gobi and accidentally stumble into Tu Mei's home. Zhou Haiping's lust ignites as he lunges at Tu Mei, while Captain Peng aims his gun at Black Bactrian. Just in time, Zhang Qiyun arrives on horseback, kills the soldiers, and saves Black Bactrian and Tu Mei. They learn from a letter they captured that Ningxia's military envoy Ma Fuqiang has sent Zhou Haiping with weapons and a commission to commend Dong Shiying and to retrieve the fifty thousand silver dollars that were hijacked. Zhang Qiyun and Black Bactrian decide to impersonate Zhou and Peng to storm Dong's house and reclaim the revolutionary army's fifty thousand yuan. However, the two are discovered and captured by Dong Shiying's daughter's fiancé. Dong Shiying's daughter, Dong Rufeng, who sympathizes with the revolution and longs for it, rescues them. Just as Dong Shiying smugly leaves Dongjiazhuang with the convoy, Black Bactrian charges in with hundreds of camels... Dong Rufeng and Zhang Qiyun lead the camels away into the distance.
