Japan's invasion of China extended its sinister claws to the grasslands, causing the people to suffer greatly. This also awakened the national sentiment in Urigen, who originally came from a bandit background. Urigen set his sights on Narenhua, but she married Taoke. When Urigen caused trouble, it startled the Japanese soldiers, and in a fit of rage, Ota killed Narenhua's brother and father. Urigen and others opened fire to draw the Japanese away. The Japanese searched everywhere for horses, leading to a conflict with Taoke. In anger, Taoke dragged Ota to death with his horse. Captain Zhutian and others sought to capture him, and Taoke fled with Narenhua, encountering Urigen on the way. Despite his past grievances with Taoke, his national sentiment compelled Urigen to save him. Urigen's group intended to frame Taoke for a crime, but ultimately refrained from doing so. His conscience reminded him: a true Mongolian man should not harm a drunken person. Taoke urged Urigen to join him in fighting the Japanese but was refused. The Japanese also attempted to bribe Urigen, only to be mocked. In their anger, they stole Urigen's horse; Taoke and his men came to help, which moved Urigen. He finally united with Taoke, Hongge'er, and others, defeating the Japanese soldiers completely. Unfortunately, Urigen was shot while attempting to save Hongge'er. While everyone was still deep in grief, a large number of Japanese soldiers entered the grasslands again, prompting Taoke to decide to seek the "Red Army" within the borders to drive the Japanese out of the grasslands.
