On the vast lands of Africa, exotic animals run freely, but poverty, hunger, and the smoke of war fill every corner of this dark land. In a certain country’s transit zone, a young Black boy named Agu (played by Abraham Attah) is mischievous and playful, just like children in other peaceful nations. However, the peace he enjoys is fragile, and once the agreement between government forces and rebel groups is broken, the ensuing chaos is marked by whistling bullets and slaughter. Agu experiences the traumatic separation from his mother and witnesses the brutal killings of his family members. He flees in panic and is taken in by a guerrilla group composed of many young soldiers in the dense jungle. The guerrilla leader (played by Idris Elba) is charismatic; like a benevolent father, he incites the naive boys to pick up weapons and take pleasure in the violence against their own kind. The boys grow up too fast, aging prematurely…
