Based on certain historical facts and real-life prototypes, this film tells the story of the descendants of Liu Mingchuan, a famous commander of the Huai Army during the late Qing Dynasty and the first governor of Taiwan, protecting a rare treasure—the Guo Jizi white plate, one of the three major bronze vessels of the Western Zhou dynasty. With the help of the New Fourth Army, they engage in a battle of wits and courage against the Japanese invaders in the spring of 1938, after Lu Zhou fell. It is understood that the Guo Jizi white plate is currently the largest and heaviest bronze vessel from the Shang and Zhou periods in existence in China. In 1950, it was donated free of charge by Liu Mingchuan's fourth-generation descendant Liu Su and is currently housed in the National Museum of China.
