This is the first leading role for Manami Honjo in a film. Directed by Ichiro Isozaki of "Ganbatte Ikimasshoi." The original story is a novel of the same name by Naoki Prize-winning author Ayako Yamakawa. Tetsuo (Hiroshi Tamaki), a university student working part-time at a supermarket, harbors admiration for a young woman named Satoru (Manami Honjo), whom he occasionally sees. One day, after Satoru collapses from anemia in front of Tetsuo, their relationship begins. Living with her mother (Mariko Fuji) and sister (Maho Nohara) in a house on a hill, Satoru is shy and quiet but harbors unstable emotions, inviting Tetsuo to a hotel during a drive. This instability stems from her repressive life under her strict mother. In contrast to her often bright characters on TV, Manami Honjo plays a woman with a hidden darkness, challenging delicate psychological expressions. Mariko Fuji portrays an intimidating mother reminiscent of Hitchcock's "Psycho," and the scene where she reveals her femininity in front of Tetsuo is incredibly powerful. Meanwhile, Nohara's sister, who is a bright and straightforward character, brings a glimmer of light to the often gloomy atmosphere of the film, serving as a kind of salvation. The theme song is "Ibara no Umi" by Chihiro Onitsuka. (Masahiko Saito)
