Austrian poet Ingeborg Bachmann falls in love with Swiss literary giant Max Frisch and then experiences heartbreak, leading her to embark on a journey of solitude to the desert. This film portrays her transition from "heartbroken" to "pursuing independence" through intersecting narratives involving Bachmann and Frisch, German composer Hans Werner Henze, and Austrian playwright Adolph Appia. Directed by Margarethe von Trotta, who won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for "Germany's Sisters," the film delicately illustrates the more authentic and diverse image of Bachmann behind her public persona. Nominated for the main competition at the 2023 Berlin Film Festival.
