The treacherous prime minister Qin Quan (played by Gu Feng) is suffering from a deadly disease and is on the brink of death. He instructs the chief guard Sima Jun (played by Luo Lie) to fetch the longevity vine from the herbalist for treatment. The herbalist knows that Qin Quan intends to use it and firmly refuses. Sima Jun, in desperation, kills the herbalist and steals the treasure box containing the longevity vine. Sima Jun's apprentice Tie Erlang (played by Liu Yong), filled with righteous anger, seizes the opportunity to steal the longevity vine.
