White detective Nick Nolte is forced to seek the assistance of his former black criminal partner Eddie Murphy to track down the mysterious drug dealer "Ice Man." Eddie, having a large sum of money still in Nick's hands, reluctantly agrees to help, but conflicts arise between them during their partnership. Ultimately, they uncover the true identity of the "Ice Man," who turns out to be one of the police. The whole film showcases the efforts of the cast and crew, from the screenwriter's plot arrangement to the director's action design, all striving to make it entertaining. However, it still cannot escape the established framework and ends up going in circles within formulaic limits, even Eddie's comedic tricks seem a bit worn out.
