A comedy film written, directed, and starred in by this year's Cannes Best Actor Roshdy Zem. Ismael is Arab, Clara is Jewish. They meet and fall in love, happy together. When Clara becomes pregnant in the autumn, everything becomes even better. However, when they reveal their relationship to their respective families, it causes a stir in two families from different ethnic backgrounds. Roshdy Zem was born in the French suburb of Zaanavi Le Rueil, a descendant of Moroccan immigrants, and has a passion for acting and football. His roles in "My Little Company" in 1999 and "The Little Lieutenant" (Le Petit lieutenant) in 2005 earned him two César nominations for Best Supporting Actor. This year, "Indigenes" became a new milestone for Roshdy, as he and four other male leads won the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival. The female lead is rising Belgian star Cécile de France, whose works this year also include "The Retired Singer," in collaboration with Gérard Depardieu.
