Four friends of Xiao Ming (played by Haijun Jie) mysteriously die one after another after playing a "spirit calling game" in Huangshan Village. Sensing something is amiss, Xiao Ming seeks help from his journalist sister CISSY (played by Li Zi). To secure an exclusive story, CISSY introduces her friend Fa Mao (played by Wu Zhen Yu), who knows a lot about spiritual studies and has a crush on her, to Xiao Ming. When Fa Mao and Xiao Ming head to Huangshan Village for an investigation, they find out that a bizarre tragedy occurred in the village over a hundred years ago. Yuyue opera star Chu Renmei (played by Shi Nian Ci), who learned of her own death caused by her husband's conspiracy, killed 66 villagers in three days. Her ghost now reappears because her bones were discarded in a pond near a new construction site. After further investigation, they discover that the ghost's method of killing is to cause those who drink from the pond to hallucinate and then die unexpectedly. However, by this time, CISSY and her husband have already drunk from the pond. To save CISSY, Xiao Ming and Fa Mao drink from the pond and jump into the deep water.
