Adapted from Shigeo Komatsu's novel "Flea Exterminator Samurai," Hiroshi Abe plays a samurai who is exiled for offending the feudal lord, becoming the "ero-samurai" Kobayashi Hiroshi, who pretends to be exterminating cat fleas while actually selling "meat" to female clients. His first customer, Komine (Shinobu Terajima), resembles his deceased wife, but within minutes, she criticizes his poor skills, prompting him to resolve to master the art of intimacy. Etsushi Toyokawa plays the strict husband Seihei, who teaches the protagonist how to please women, while Atsuko Maeda plays Seihei’s wife. Takumi Saito portrays Saeki Tomonoyuki, a poor but free-tutoring private school teacher and neighbor of Hiroshi Abe's character.
