In early 1590, after the ruler Oda Nobunaga's death, the land was taken over by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Far in the eastern plains, a mysterious rebel known as "Tenmo" is engaged in a civil war with his skeleton army. One day in the plains, a lone wanderer named "Kirimaru" is hunted by the skeleton army and finds himself trapped. He is rescued by a group of drifters and "Shanaka." Kirimaru gets injured in the fight and is taken to the nearby village of "Mugai." Mugai serves as a postal hub between the capital and the eastern plains. It is a busy village open to anyone. The village is managed by the geisha "Gokuraku Tayū" and "Mugai-ya Ranbey," as well as a wandering samurai named "Tanuki Ana Jirō." When Shanaka, Tanuki Ana Jirō, and Mugai-ya Ranbey gather in the village, a strange moment arrives, seemingly hinting at some kind of connection between them. What kind of relationship lies behind them? How will this civil war unfold?
