The spaceship Churchill approaches Halley's Comet, aiming to explore its internal structure. Captain Tom Carlson (played by Steve Railsback) leads a team out of the cabin, discovering a derelict ship concealed within the comet, containing the mummified remains of strange creatures and three humans sleeping in crystal coffins. To unravel the mystery, Tom orders them to be brought back to the spacecraft. Thirty days later, the empty Churchill arrives at Earth, and the space agency sends the Columbia to dock with it. Astronauts discover signs of burning within the ship and the three sleeping individuals, while the entire crew is dead. After returning to Earth, the female among the three (played by Mathilda May) suddenly awakens and absorbs the life force of a young guard. The guard then turns into a mummified corpse and ultimately disintegrates. Soon, the other two awaken, and it appears that a disaster is about to befall Earth...
