The story describes how young Wei Hu (Zhang Yi) suffers the devastation of his family, which is ransacked by Zuo Jinglong (Lin Qiao), Ying Tian, and Yang Gang (Gu Feng). His parents and younger brother are killed, and his sister Wei Yun (Zhao Xinyan) is abducted by Zuo, leaving the family shattered. In his rage, Hu sets fire to his home and resolves to travel far and wide to seek revenge against his enemies. As Hu wanders from place to place, he encounters a nameless heroic figure (Yang Zhiqing) and dedicates himself as a disciple. After several years of training, he becomes accomplished and sets out to find his enemies. "The Soul Snatching Bell" is a work by the renowned director Yue Feng. The plot is adapted from the Italian cowboy film "Giù il Cuore," but the entire movie surpasses its source material, creating an excellent atmosphere.
