2500 years ago, ancient India was ravaged by constant wars and suffering. The powerful Kshatriya Kingdom swept across the land, continually annexing smaller states. Under the shadow of war, the tranquil Shakya Kingdom was about to welcome a great life. King Suddhodana's beloved queen, Maya, returned to her homeland to give birth according to tradition, and on the way, she gave birth to a handsome baby boy named Siddhartha. From a young age, Siddhartha was kind-hearted; sumptuous banquets and beautiful dances could not sway him, while the suffering of life and death in the world became a persistent burden for this noble prince. Meanwhile, Chapra, a man of Shudra birth, vowed to change his fate. He seized the opportunity to become the adopted son of General Buda of the Kshatriya Kingdom and ultimately grew into an undefeated warrior, yet his predetermined fate was hard to escape. On the eve of the Buddha's enlightenment, darkness began to see the light...This film is adapted from Osamu Tezuka's original work "Buddha" and is the first part of the "Tezuka Osamu's Buddha" trilogy. All character names in the synopsis are based on translations from classical Chinese texts.
