22-year-old drug dealer Chris (Emile Hirsch) is deeply in debt, and the loan sharks are threatening to kill him. To save his life, he comes up with the only solution: to murder his mother Adele for her life insurance money, teaming up with his father, stepmother, and sister Dottie (Juno Temple) to split the windfall. However, Chris is reluctant to do the dirty work himself, so he targets hitman Joe (Matthew McConaughey), but Joe only does business and won't act without enough cash upfront. In desperation, Chris has to temporarily hand over his sister as "collateral" to Joe. Just when Chris thinks everything is settled and awaits his payday, things take a dramatic turn...
