Between September and October 1948, the victories in the Liaoshen and Jinan campaigns marked the arrival of a decisive turning point in the Liberation War. In this critical moment, Chiang Kai-shek (played by Zhao Hengduo) urgently mobilized 170,000 troops from three corps to hold the Central Plains. In November of the same year, the East China Field Army launched an attack on Huang Baitao's (played by Xu Huanshan) corps, officially initiating the Huaihai Campaign. The sudden uprising by underground party member He Zhang on the front line provided the opportunity for the lagging Su Yu (played by Xie Weicai) to successfully cut off Huang Baitao's retreat. Subsequently, both the Kuomintang and the Communist Party redeployed their troops, showcasing their strengths, and the Central Plains battlefield instantly transformed into a vast vortex of large-scale destruction, with the Huaihai Campaign rapidly expanding to an unexpected scale. This is a key battle that determines the fate of the Chinese nation, destined to be forever recorded in history... This film commemorates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and is the second installment of the Great Battle trilogy.
