"Rudy" is based on the true story of Daniel Rudy. Rudy (played by Sean Astin) comes from a family that is passionate about football and is a loyal supporter of the Notre Dame team. After graduating high school, Rudy, who wanted to attend Notre Dame, had to give up due to poor grades and began working in a steel mill. On his 22nd birthday, a friend gave him a jacket with Notre Dame lettering and encouraged him to pursue his dreams. The unexpected death of his friend at the steel mill deeply affected Rudy, leading him to leave his fiancée and board a train to Notre Dame. Once in college, he studied and trained diligently, and due to his perseverance, he was chosen by the coach to join the practice squad, but he never got a chance to play in a game. Finally, he substituted in during a crucial moment of an important game and helped the team secure a victory. His parents and family, who were present at the game, were thrilled. After 1975, no one from the Notre Dame team was carried off the field. In 1976, Rudy graduated from Notre Dame, and all five of his brothers also went to college and graduated successfully.
